Online Research Training and Instruction

Several outside sources offer online courses on a variety of topics helpful for new clinical and translational researchers. These not-for-credit courses are offered free of charge in most cases, though some require the purchase of a textbook.

  • Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers an introductory course each year for researchers new to clinical research. Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR) course is based on a curriculum on how to effectively conduct clinical research. The course is offered in person in Washington and online. It is broken into five modules, with each module featuring several lectures averaging about an hour in length. While registration is required to view the current year's lectures, an archive of the previous year's course is available to all, featuring video lectures and copies of PowerPoint slides.
