Frontiers KL2 and TL1 Clinical and Translational Mentored Career Development Awards

KL2 program
The KL2 program provides a minimum of 2 years of training support and 75% protected time for a junior faculty member who is preparing for, but has not yet received his/her own, independent NIH funding. Eligibility requirements for the KL2 are essentially the same as the requirements for an NIH K award.
TL1 program
The postdoctoral TL1 program provides a 1 or 2 year, full-time research training experience for clinical scientists, including but not limited to medical doctors (e.g. clinical fellows), nutritionists, nurses, physical therapists, psychologists, PharmDs, social workers, and PhD’s in other clinical science fields.  This program is designed for individuals within 4 years of completing their doctoral training and not yet ready to apply for a K award.

Applicants for both the KL2 and TL1 programs must be United States citizens or permanent residents.

Letter of intent:
We anticipate sending out a formal request for applications (RFA) as soon as we receive notice of award with a possible deadline for applications as early as November 1st.  Meanwhile we want to identify and cultivate promising applicants, INCLUDING NEW PROSPECTIVE HIRES, with a goal of enrolling the strongest candidates in these two programs.  Letters of intent for both the KL2 and TL1 programs are due by midnight, September 22, 2017 and should include:
1)  Letter of intent:  Maximum of 2 pages outlining career goals, preliminary plans for mentorship, and a brief outline of the anticipated program of research
2)  NIH-style biosketch from the proposed KL2 or TL1 candidate
3)  NIH-style biosketch from the proposed primary mentor
